Rosemary & Thyme processes all data locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. Your recipes and cooking data stay completely private.

Welcome to Rosemary & Thyme. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how Rosemary & Thyme handles data—or more accurately, how we don't handle your personal data, because we don't collect any.

Rosemary & Thyme does not collect any personal information. We do not:

Collect your name, email, or any identifying information
Require user accounts or registration
Track your usage or behavior
Use analytics or tracking services
Share data with third parties (because we have no data to share)
Store your recipes or cooking history on our servers

2. Local Processing

💻 100% On-Device Processing

All AI features run entirely on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Your device does all the work:

AI recipe assistant and chat
Semantic recipe search
Recipe parsing and storage
Ingredient scaling and conversions
All Foundation Models and Core ML inference

No data is sent to external servers for processing. Everything happens locally on your device.

3. Internet Usage

Rosemary & Thyme only uses the internet for:

Web Recipe Import - When you import a recipe from a URL, the app downloads and processes that webpage locally on your device to extract ingredients and instructions
App Updates - To download updates from the App Store

Important: When importing recipes, the app only downloads the specific recipe page you requested. It does not send any information about you, your device, or your saved recipes to web servers.

4. Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device:

Saved Recipes - Your recipe collection is stored entirely on your device
Collections & Organization - Your custom collections and organization are stored locally
App Settings - Your preferences and configuration are stored on your device
AI Index - The semantic search index for your recipes is stored locally

We do not have access to any of this data. It exists only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers (because we don't have any servers).

5. What We Don't Do

To be completely clear, Rosemary & Thyme does not:

❌ Require user accounts
❌ Use cloud services or backends for data
❌ Track your activity or usage
❌ Use analytics or tracking SDKs
❌ Share data with advertisers or third parties
❌ Send your recipes or cooking queries to external servers
❌ Upload your data to iCloud (unless you explicitly enable iCloud sync)

6. Third-Party Services

Rosemary & Thyme does not use any third-party services for data processing or analytics. The only external connections are:

App Store - For app updates
Web Recipe Import - Directly fetching recipe pages you specifically request to import

When you import a recipe from a website, that website may collect standard web log data (IP address, browser type, pages visited). This is governed by that website's own privacy policy.

7. iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable iCloud sync, your recipes and settings will sync across your devices using Apple's iCloud service. This data is encrypted by Apple and subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to this data.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

You control all data retention
Deleting the app removes all locally stored data and settings
You can delete individual recipes or collections at any time
We don't retain any data because we don't collect any

9. Your Rights

You have complete control:

Access: All data is on your device—you can view it anytime
Delete: Delete recipes, collections, or the entire app
Export: Export your recipes in standard formats
Privacy: Your recipes are completely private—we can't see them because they never leave your device

10. Children's Privacy

Our app does not collect any information from anyone, including children. Since we don't collect data, we don't collect data from children either. The app is suitable for users of all ages who love cooking.

11. Security

Since all processing happens on your device and no sensitive data is transmitted:

Your data security depends on your device's security
We recommend using standard device security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID)
No data is at risk from our servers because we don't have any
Your recipes are stored in the app's sandbox, protected by iOS/macOS security

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or clarify our practices. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. Since we don't collect contact information, we can't email you about changes—please check this page periodically.
