Quick Help
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I search for a recipe?
A: Use the search bar at the top of the Recipes tab. You can search by recipe name, ingredients, or even concepts like "quick dinner for two" or "spicy vegetarian lunch". The semantic search understands natural language, so don't be afraid to search casually.
Q: How does the AI assistant help me cook?
A: The AI assistant acts as your sous-chef. Ask it things like "What can I make with chicken and lemon?" or "How do I substitute buttermilk?" or "What's a good side dish for fish?". The assistant can search your saved recipes, provide cooking tips, and answer culinary questions in real-time.
Q: Can I use the app offline?
A: Yes! All core features work offline. The AI assistant, semantic search, and your saved recipes are all stored and processed on your device. You only need internet to import recipes from the web or update the app.
Q: How do I import a recipe from a website?
A: In Safari or any browser, find the recipe you want, tap the Share button, then select "Rosemary & Thyme". The app will extract the recipe's ingredients and instructions, strip out ads and clutter, and save it beautifully to your collection.
Q: Is my data private?
A: Completely. All AI inference and semantic search run locally on your device via Apple Intelligence. Your saved recipes, meal plans, and cooking queries never leave your phone. There's no cloud backend, no user accounts, and no tracking. See our
Privacy Policy for details.
Q: What languages does the app support?
A: Rosemary & Thyme is fully localized in English and Spanish, including recipe content and conversational AI capabilities. The app will use whichever language your device is set to, or you can switch languages in Settings.
Q: How accurate is the semantic search?
A: The semantic search uses on-device machine learning to understand your intent. It can find recipes even when you don't have the exact name or ingredients. For example, searching "something warm and comforting for a cold day" will return soups and stews, while "light summer lunch" might return salads and cold dishes.
Q: Can I organize recipes into collections?
A: Yes! You can create collections to organize your recipes however you like—by meal type, dietary restriction, cuisine, or any system that works for you. Collections are stored locally on your device.
Q: How do I adjust serving sizes?
A: When viewing a recipe, tap the serving size indicator to adjust it. The app will automatically scale all ingredient quantities for you.
Q: Does the app work on iPad and Mac?
A: Yes! Rosemary & Thyme is a universal app that works on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Your recipes and settings sync across devices using iCloud (if enabled), and the app adapts beautifully to larger screens.
